Air compressors are used in a variety of scenarios, whether it is for daily tire inflation or industrial manufacturing, we need to use it. For daily small air compressor, home plug can be powered, for those large air compressors, how should we go for its power?

1. Types of air compressor
Piston air compressor
This is one of the oldest air compressors, similar to a pump, we use this kind of daily, its structure is relatively simple, the power can be from 1HP to 5HP, most of our common in about 2HP.
Screw Air Compressor
Commonly used in manufacturing, construction, VMC machine, automobile assembly, etc., mostly used in factories on a large scale, its power is larger, the power consumption is also larger, its power is generally more than 200KW, and can even reach 300KW.
Centrifugal Air Compressor
Commonly used in industry, such as central lubrication system, food processing, pharmaceutical and other fields, its power can be extended from 100KW to 9000KW.
Axial Air Compressor
A kind of large air compressor, the maximum power can reach 150,000KW, mostly used in ventilation system and cooling system.
Screw Air Compressor
Mostly used in chemical industry, foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals and other environments that require oil-free and dust-free. The capacity of 16 cubic meters can reach 75KW.
2. Calculation of power consumption
Generally in the air compressor nameplate will be on its basic parameters such as labeling, rated power, speed, flow rate, etc., but may be different machines will use different units, such as are KW, can be directly compared. If there is a party is HP, then a simple calculation. 1HP ≈ 0.75KW, 1KW ≈ 1.34HP.
If there is no power to use you can use W (power) = V (voltage) x A (current) to calculate it. Not only that, we also need to consider the running time of the air compressor, and the capacity of the generator can sometimes be different.
Calculation of capacity KWh (capacity) = KW (power) × h (running time)
If the compressor has a power of 7500W and needs to run for 2 hours, then we need a generator with a capacity of at least 15000Wh.
In addition to this, the electricity consumption of a compressor is also related to its size and type. Generally speaking, smaller air compressors have less power.
3. Choice of power supply
The inflatable pumps used in daily life are usually under 1 kW, which can be easily solved by car batteries.
For small air compressors, may need to consume very little electricity, but for other large air compressors, usually considered then its work process needs to overcome friction and other factors, in order to make the air compressor can operate better, we generally use the power in 1.5 ~ 2 times the generator.
For example, a 7.5KW air compressor that needs to work for two hours, you can use a generator with 20KWh or more, which can make your air compressor work properly. The key problem is that the air compressor that consumes so much power simply cannot be used with the support of removable power supply, which is usually mostly used in factories. In large scale usage scenarios like factories, air compressors consume huge amounts of power.
In factories, the power of the air compressor is generally 10-75 kilowatts, a 60-kilowatt air compressor working for 10 hours, need to consume 600 degrees of electricity, then the power consumption of a machine can be equivalent to the power consumption of a family for half a year, when more than one machine operating together will become a considerable expenditure.
In order to save cost, you can try to buy solar power system, through the solar energy system to generate electricity to solve the high cost of electricity generated by the air compressor. Even if there is a power outage, you can still use the reserve power from the PV to keep the plant running. The open space on your plant provides good conditions for the installation of PV, allowing for self-sufficiency and reducing dependence on conventional electricity.
